Career Experience

I have been in the teaching field for 32 years and recently retired to live in the dream home my husband and I built on 22 acres. I've taught at all levels beginning with 10 years at elementary school, spending two years at middle school and ending in a secondary high school. I retired because I was exhausted but as soon as I caught up on my sleep I realized that I REALLY missed teaching - particularly high school English essays. Call me crazy but I LOVE reading essays and helping students make them better! I'm also sympathetic to the very confusing world of English grammar and I can give some simple rules to help students remember correct usage. I've been doing once a week face tutoring at the local library and probably the best endorsement I've ever received is that (during a recent illness) my students refused to be transferred to anyone else - preferring to wait for me to return.

I Love Tutoring Because

of the way it allows me to work one-on-one with individual students and truly help them with whatever problems THEY have. In a classroom of 32, it's hard to get through the material in an hour, but with tutoring, I can check for understanding and know immediately if the student has "got it" or needs further explanation. No one is bored and the work gets done easily. I also enjoy tutoring because it allows me to interact with so many interesting people.
