Longwood University offers "small class sizes and one-on-one time with professors" in an "intimate atmosphere" that "gives you the best chance to succeed in your field of choice." A senior says, "If you are looking for a rigorous academic career, you will be challenged with one," and all agree that "Longwood has an excellent education program." A mathematics education major says, "At Longwood, all my professors know me by name and genuinely care about my education," and students feel that "smaller classes help make connections with the professors," which "lead to a comfortable and open learning environment." Professors are "passionate," "qualified, and challenging but provide a positive interaction" and are known to "facilitate discussion rather than just lecture." ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ say, "Hands-on experience is very common as part of learning," and students add that professors are "personable, friendly, and eager to teach" in addition to being "easily accessible outside of the classroom." However, a few acknowledge that their "general education" professors were "not so good," but they say "once you get into your major classes…you get to know the teachers better and have a greater experience."
